Wellness Eye Exams

Comprehensive eye exams are performed yearly to ensure you are seeing the best you can and to monitor your ocular health.

What to expect at your comprehensive eye exam at Southwest Vision:

  • A thorough medical and ocular history including family history and surgical history
  • Pre-testing performed by experienced technicians to collect vital information for the doctor
  • Time with the doctor includes a thorough eye exam to assess vision by performing a refraction, reviewing options for corrective lenses, examination of all structures of the eye with microscopy and imagining.
    • Dilation with eye drops is performed case-by-case and is not required on all patients at Southwest Vision. Dilation is required for diabetic patients who have Eyemed and Vision Service Plan (VSP) insurances. This a requirement dictated by these insurance plans and not by Southwest Vision. Therefore, if a diabetic patient chooses to use their benefits for an eye exam, you cannot opt out of being dilated. Please fill out this form and bring to your exam.
  • All questions will be answered with the doctor and your exam slot is not limited by a time frame. The doctors at Southwest Vision believe that very patient’s needs are unique, and you will be given all the time necessary to feel confident that you understand your vision and ocular conditions. If you leave the practice and realize you still have more questions, our doctors speak with all patients on the phone or communicate on the secure portal to re-address concerns in a timely fashion.

Retinal imaging captures the entire retina without dilation. This allows the doctor to perform a thorough retinal exam and has become the standard of care.
