Dr. Yousef has been with Southwest Vision since July of 2010 and as of February 2018 is now the owner. Her time with the previous owner, Dr. Kevin DeWolfe, has enabled her to develop a close relationship with his patients and staff. Her professional focus is on managing dry eye disease and offering innovated technologies for treatments and specializing in multifocal contact lenses. Dr. Yousef also heavily focuses on ocular disease, with incorporation of nutrition to maintain ocular health. She will spend as much time with her patients, assessing their entire lifestyle to optimize eye health and visual comfort.
Dr. Yousef graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the University of Texas in 2005. She went on to receive her doctor’s degree in Optometry from the University of Houston, graduating with honors Magna Cum Laude, in 2009.
During her time in school, she was inducted into the Beta Sigma Honors Society and recognized with multiple awards of Clinical Excellence during her rotations.
Dr. Yousef continued with her education by completing a residency in Ocular Disease, focusing on Glaucoma and the Retina. During the program she took a teaching role as an attending doctor to students and lectured locally. In November of 2010, Dr. Yousef became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). Only 10% of optometrists are granted this title and the process involves writing case reports, having publications, and an oral examination. Dr. Yousef is also a member of the Texas Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, the Ocular Nutrition Society, and the Central Texas Optometric Society.
Dr. Yousef was born and raised in Austin and feels at home in this lovely community. During her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and rooting for the Longhorns!
